Starting My Journey from Delhi
On 30 September 2023, I started my road journey from New Delhi to Jaipur. The distance between Delhi and Jaipur is around 300โ320 km, and it usually takes 4โ5 hours to reach by road.
I drove overnight so that I could reach Jaipur early in the morning and have the whole day to explore the city. After a comfortable journey on the highway, I finally arrived in Jaipur around 6:00 AM.
Hotel Stay Near Amer Fort
After reaching Jaipur, I checked in at Hotel Royal Amer, which is located very close to Amer Fort. The fort is only 1โ2 km away from the hotel, making it a very convenient location for tourists.
Since I had traveled during the night, I decided to take some rest at the hotel and slept for a few hours to refresh myself before going out in the evening.
Exploring Jaipur Markets and Pink City
In the evening, I went to explore the famous markets of the Pink City area. The streets of Jaipur are full of colors, culture, and energy.
Jaipur markets are known for:
- Traditional Rajasthani jewelry
- Handmade handicrafts
- Colorful textiles and clothes
- Leather mojari shoes
- Souvenirs and decorative items
The markets are lively and attract both local shoppers and tourists from around the world. Walking through these streets gives you a true feeling of Jaipurโs culture and heritage.
Snacks with a View of Hawa Mahal
Later in the evening, I visited the famous Hawa Mahal, one of the most iconic landmarks of Jaipur.
There are many cafรฉs and restaurants located directly in front of Hawa Mahal. From these cafes, you can sit comfortably, enjoy tea or snacks, and get a full view of the beautiful palace.
The atmosphere around Hawa Mahal is always vibrant with tourists, street vendors, and photographers capturing the beauty of the Pink City.
Jaipur Street Food Experience
Jaipur is also well known for its food markets. In different parts of the city, you can easily find both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food options.
Travelers can enjoy:
- Local Rajasthani dishes
- Street snacks
- Tea and evening snacks
- Traditional sweets and desserts
The food markets are always busy and are a great place to try authentic local flavors.
Morning Pool View at the Hotel
The next morning after breakfast, I decided to relax for a while at the rooftop swimming pool of Hotel Royal Amer.
The pool is located on the terrace of the hotel, and the view from there is simply incredible. From the rooftop, I could clearly see Amer Fort surrounded by the hills of the Aravalli Range.
The peaceful morning atmosphere combined with the view of the historic fort made it a perfect start to the day.
Visiting Amer Fort
After breakfast, I decided to visit Amer Fort, which was very close to my hotel.
Amer Fort is one of the most famous historical attractions in Rajasthan. Built using red sandstone and marble, the fort covers a very large area with multiple gates, courtyards, palaces, and temples.

Because of its grand architecture, film shootings and documentaries are sometimes recorded at Amer Fort.
Jal Mahal โ The Water Palace
After visiting Amer Fort, I continued my journey to Jal Mahal, which is located about 6โ7 km from Amer Fort on the Jaipur-Amer road.
Jal Mahal is a beautiful palace located in the middle of Man Sagar Lake and appears to float on the water.
History of Jal Mahal
The palace was built by the Rajput rulers of Jaipur and was mainly used as a royal leisure and hunting lodge.
Interestingly, scenes from the movie Ajooba, starring Amitabh Bachchan, were filmed around this location.
Although visitors cannot enter the palace, the lakeside view is stunning and perfect for photography.
Visiting Nahargarh Fort โ The Best City View
Later in the afternoon, I visited Nahargarh Fort, located on the hills overlooking Jaipur.

Nahargarh Fort was built in 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur. The fort was originally built to strengthen the city’s defense.
The name Nahargarh means โAbode of Tigers.โ
